Massage therapy

Prenatal massage, face down comfortably again

Here's why expecting mothers from Grand Rapids, Wayland and the surrounding communities seek out our pregnancy table — and what a session looks like.

Why pregnant patients come to us for massage

As pregnancy progresses, most massage tables become uncomfortable fast. Lying on your side for an hour puts pressure on hips and shoulders, and many expecting mothers give up on massage entirely — even though it's often when they need it most.

Patients seek us out specifically because of our specially designed pregnancy table. It has a removable section that gently cradles the belly, so you can lie face down comfortably — often for the first time in months. Not many offices have one, and it changes the whole experience of a prenatal massage.

What a session looks like

Your therapist will talk with you first about where you're feeling tension, how far along you are, and any areas your doctor or midwife has flagged. Sessions are offered in 30, 60 and 90-minute lengths — 90-minute sessions are scheduled by phone so we can plan the extra time properly.

Prenatal massage commonly focuses on the lower back, hips, legs and neck, where the changing posture of pregnancy puts the most demand on the body.

Our massage therapists

Our licensed therapists — Cassie H., Joy H., Julie V. and Marissa W. — work alongside our doctors at both locations, and several focus on prenatal and postpartum care. If you're expecting, let us know when you schedule so we can pair you with the right therapist and room.

Booking a prenatal massage

Current patients can book a massage online through our booking page. New patients, send us a message or call your office and we'll get you scheduled and answer any questions about the pregnancy table first.
